From syed : The part of the verse in question 4:171, إِنَّمَا الْمَسِيحُ عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ رَسُولُ اللّهِ وَكَلِمَتُهُ أَلْقَاهَا إِلَى مَرْي From syed : AL Baydawi is either mistranslated or he didn't know Quran well for him to say that Abraham dispaired From syed : Good news of a word, not the word, From John Rizbhi : here is Baydawi is correct. please read the Arabic text carefully From syed : Glad, then he didn't know Quran, cuz prophets of God do never despair in their Mighty and Merciful God. From Sanjay : Qadi Baydawi wrote several significant volumes on Arabic grammar. I suspect he knew Arabic From syed : 3:46 And he shall speak unto men in his cradle, and in old age, and shall be of the righteous." From syed : 3:48 And he will impart unto thy son revelation, and wisdom, and the Torah, and the Gospel From syed : Now let us look the whole verse in 4:171, “O followers of the Gospel! Do not over reach in the extent of your religious beliefs, and do not say of God anything but the truth. The Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, was but a messenger of God - His word bridged to Mary (via Gabriel) and a spirit from Him. Believe then, in God and His messengers and do not say, trinity. Desist, and it is best for you, indeed, God is but One God; holier than holy is He in His glory, from having a son and to Him belongs what is in the heavens and what is on earth; and none is as worthy of trust as God.” From syed : John 1:1 “Word” is a philosophical term that could mean any number of things. It could mean God’s thought, mind, reasoning, wisdom, speech, intention, principle or plan. It could also mean the agent, means or bridge by which God implements and takes action in the material world, such as creating, destroying and revealing or communicating. I believe the assertion here does not infringe either against Bible or the Quran. But the Gospel according to John, clearly did not intend the term “Word” to mean Jesus is God, From syed : only 44 years after the Prophets death, a Khalif who didn't know much yet how to from Islamic thought in the matter of theology, explication of the text. So what he said to john is sheer lack of not knowing. Word of God need not be uncreated. every time God speaks HE creates. In this idea alone His word is not eternal. For earth was created by HIs word, and earth is not eternal. Thus also word of God need not be same as His essence. From syed : Does not Bible warn about those who add to take away from GOD's Word? When Jesus (as) showed those signs he did so by the leave of God. God calls them signs, not miracles. But God did not forget to mention miracle... From kerrie snow : According to the definition of the word miracle, it seems Jesus performed miracles not signs From syed : But they did not kill him nor crucified him, but indeed, resembled to them as one (crucified and dead). Surely those who differ in this - are in doubt about it. They have no knowledge of it (event) except conjecture ! Q4:157 From syed : when God said, O' Jesus, I will cause you to die and exalt you towards me and clear you from (charges) those who denied truth and place those who followed you above those who denied truth until the day of Resurrection. Then to me is your return and I'll judge between you in which you differed. 3:56 From syed : 3:144: Muhammad is but a messenger, surely, the messengers before him have passed away. So if he died or be killed, will you turn on your heels? And whoever turns on his heels can not inconvenient God in any way. God will compensate the grateful. From syed : 5:117: I did not say to them except what You commanded me: worship God, my Lord and your Lord and I was witness over them as long as I remained with them, After You caused me to die, You were the Watcher over them. And You are Witness over all things. From يوهونا رضوي : These verses actually declare the Death of Jesus on the cross and his resurection From syed : Consider the following from Bible: Jesus’ prophecy, his case would be like the case of Jonah. Jonah came close to death but was saved. Prayer in Gethsemane – Jesus prayed to be saved and for the ‘cup’ to be taken from him. Pilate’s Wife’s Dream – Pilate’s wife saw a dream which led her to ensure her husband frees himself from condemning Jesus. Time spent in Crucifixion – Jesus’s Crucifixion lasted between 3 and 6 hours. Crucifixion usually lasted for several days. It was designed to be a drawn out death. From syed : It is no small matter that Quran seem to support Mark and Luke in their differences as a cause for doubts, and as do these signs: His own prophecy comparing him with Jonah, Fast change of weather, running away of crowds and of disciples from the scene, confusion, blood & water coming out from piercing the side of his body, the placement of his body in Sepulcher, but not given Jewish burial rites for the dead! From syed : تُكَلِّمُ النَّاسَ فِي الْمَهْدِ وَكَهْلاً 5:110 ... you did speak to people in the cradle and in old age..... The verse alone shows he survived crucifixion. وَجَعَلْنَا ابْنَ مَرْيَمَ وَأُمَّهُ آيَةً وَآوَيْنَاهُمَا إِلَى رَبْوَةٍ ذَاتِ قَرَارٍ وَمَعِينٍ 23:50 ... We sheltered them on a lofty ground having meadows and springs.... Again with same implication From syed : “We have favored with grace some of those messengers (of past) above others. God spoke directly to some, and raised some high in rank. We gave, to Jesus, son of Mary, clear proofs and strengthened him with the inspired spirit. If God had willed, those came after would not have fought ˹among themselves˺ after the clear proofs had come to them. But they disagreed (differed) among themselves, of them were some who believed while others disbelieved. And if God had willed, they would not have fought with one another. But God does what He wills”.
